"Nobody likes you when your 22”

is a statement that sticks out in my mind like a sour thumb. You have it all; your youth, freedom and future full of possibilities. Yet here I was overweight, cranky, and stressed out. Heck, I didn’t even like me at 22.

Like many, I had tried all the fad diets. Had all the books. Done ALL the programs yet nothing seemed to work. The weight kept piling on. While school was always stressful, my weight made it worse.

“I guess I wasn’t like normal people,” I’d tell myself as I ate my 3rd cookies. Yet there is one thing that I was missing, the most crucial part of the equation when it came to weight loss that people miss. The thing that athletes and fitness enthusiasts have that the everyday folk glance over. Mindset.

To create a delicious soup, you need a liquid which acts as the foundation. Mindset is the foundation for everything. As a control freak with boundaries issues, no wonder I was overweight. Because where the mind goes, the body follows. With using the hypnosis and NLP approach, I was able to lose the weight quickly and have lasting change. In 3 months I lost 25 pounds, built more confidence and started to love me.

Humans have four core coping stances that we get stuck in. Blaming (pressure on self or others), people pleasing, overthinking and distracting. There are usually 2-3 that we can relate to a little bit more than the others. Maybe you find yourself doing things for others, being the “fix it” person and putting yourself last on the list. Maybe you’re overthinking so much that nothing is getting done or making things more complicated than they are. Either way you’re getting frustrated and distracted with food because “damnit you deserve a break.”
